Kelly Mahon is a 17 year-old who was
ranked in the Top 1% of her class at Woodbridge H.S. In the fall of 2007, just before the
holidays, Kelly started experiencing headaches and blurred vision. Tragically, the test results showed a cyst on
her brain, entwined in the optic nerves. Not only was Kelly's vision at risk,
so was her life. Emergency brain surgery
was performed followed by many invasive procedures to correct bleeding on the
brain and the effects of strokes. Today,
Kelly is out of a three months long coma, but is left in a state where she
requires total care, and a motorized wheelchair for mobility. Kelly is a strong fighter, but prognosis for a
full recovery is very uncertain. The
financial impact to the Mahon family will be severe.
A friend
mentioned Kelly’s ordeal to Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, also a Woodbridge
High School alumnus. Richie immediately
offered to help, designing this special "Care for Kelly/Team Sambora"
t-shirt. The shirt retails for $25.00,
with $20.00 going to the Care For Kelly fund.
“Kelly
was a brilliant student who had her college dreams and her future derailed by a
brain tumor; help me help her get those dreams back on track by purchasing one
of these Care For Kelly/ Team Sambora t-shirts".
